Hand woven in Flores, Indonesia
Hand spun 100% cotton
70 cm wide x 130cm long
Lepo Lorun is a collective of women only artisans from Flores, a small island in the Indonesian archipelago. The Natsukashi x Lepo Lorun series is a collection of incredibly intricate weavings known as ‘ikat’. This piece is a traditional Nita design belonging to the area of which the house of Lepo Lorun resides. Hand woven on traditional looms which are only as wide as the women can stretch their arms, each piece is part of a 45 step process that can take up to 8 weeks to complete. The women use 100% natural dyes + hand-spun cotton which they grow + harvest themselves. This very special collaboration supports sustainability within the cotton industry, traditional textile making + women in business.
Please note this textile is handwoven with love in rural Indonesia and any small imperfection in thread is considered part of the beauty of traditional ikat weaving.
The Natsukashi Artists Series is a collaborative design concept that sees us work with talented artists to make small batch, ethical, modern wares to serve you + your home. Discover more here.
